In 2002 the Rho Nu Lambda Chapter established the Alpha Scholars Education Foundation, a free-standing 501(c) (3) non-profit charitable organization to support the charitable needs of the fraternity, particularly scholarships for deserving young men in the community that will aid in financing the cost of their college tuition. Since its inception, the Foundation has constantly risen to higher expectations year after year by sponsoring annual events to better our youth. It is an all-purpose affair: commemoration, public informer of Alpha Phi Alpha's National Programs and Rho Nu Lambda's programs; presentation of scholarship recipients, fund-raisers, etc. We believe in serving our community to the best of our ability and we thoroughly enjoy providing this service for deserving students.
The Alpha Scholars curriculum focuses on six key topics for young males ages 12-18:
Wellness and Health
We introduce students to several colleges and universities. This program instills positive reinforcement for young men to make decisions about their goals and values, and act in ways that support their decisions. On the second Saturday of every month we provide an educational summit or character building outing. Our summits are hosted on the University of Texas-Dallas campus at 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. in the Student Union- Ritual Room. Please feel free to contact our education committee for more details by phone or email NplayerII@aol.com.
